  • Every groomer at Groomer`s Touch is certified and well trained. We know how to deal with  different temperaments, health issues and general behavior. Ideally your pet should feel comfortable with the groomer. If they are not, they will exhibit either fear or anger.

It is not required in the state of PA to be certified for one to groom your pet. Which can lead to bad grooming experiences and unsafe protocol.

  • Grooming on your pet should start at about 10-12 weeks of age (after second vaccination), to let your pet become acquainted with the sounds of the grooming salon, noises such as dryers and other dogs. These exposures started early will help your pet to acclimate to the grooming environment. The first six months of life for a dog is almost like five years of a human. It is important to begin early.

After a while your pet will take everything around him or her in stride and make it a normal experience and not a traumatic one. Once your pet is comfortable with grooming and its sounds, regular grooming should be performed.

  • Most owners of cats or dogs with longer fur opt to take their pet to the groomers once every 4-6 weeks, while shorter-haired breeds may only visit every 8-12 weeks. You will also need to take into consideration the speed at which your pet's claws & hair grow.

  • If you know your pet is aggressive, please let your groomer know all details prior to visit. Our groomers can properly handle this type of behavior with the use of specific grooming tools, their experience, and sometimes the help of another groomer. It takes a little more TLC with an aggressive animal, which can lengthen the grooming process. We will go over with you how your pet did upon pickup.

NOTE: there may be an extra fee for aggressive pets
